Terms of Service

These are the rules for using spendx. They are short because the app is small. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them; if you do not agree, do not use spendx. What spendx stores about you and who sees it is a separate document, the Privacy Policy.

Who you are dealing with

spendx is operated by Nguyen An Nguyen, an individual based in Vietnam, referred to below as the operator. Questions about these terms go to support@spendxapp.com.

Who may use spendx

You must be at least 16 years old to have an account. spendx does not knowingly keep an account for anyone younger; if one exists, it will be deleted, and you can tell us about it at the address above.

Your account

• One account per person. Do not create a second account for yourself, and do not create accounts for other people.
• Be yourself. Your Username and Display Name are shown to other Users wherever you appear. Do not pick a Username or Display Name that pretends to be another person, a business, or spendx itself, and do not otherwise impersonate anyone.
• Keep it yours. Your password and your device's sign-in are your responsibility. Do not share them, and do not use anyone else's account. What happens under your account is treated as done by you.
• Give a real email address. It is the only way to reset your password, and the only way to ask for Account Deletion without the app.

What you may share

Every Expense you log carries a Visibility you choose: Private, seen only by you; Friend-only, seen by you and your Friends; or Public, shown on the Feed to every signed-in User except anyone you have blocked or who has blocked you. The rules below apply to anything you make visible to someone else, whether Friend-only or Public. What you keep Private is nobody's business but yours.

Do not share, in an Expense or anywhere else in the app:

• harassment: anything meant to intimidate, threaten, demean, or single out a person, including other Users;
• illegal content: anything that is unlawful in Vietnam or where you are, or that describes, promotes, or arranges unlawful activity;
• sexual content of any kind;
• spam: advertising, solicitation, referral schemes, repeated or bulk posting, and anything that is not a genuine record of your own spending;
• anything you have no right to share: other people's personal details, private conversations, or material that belongs to someone else.

Do not use spendx to probe, overload, or interfere with the service, or to collect other Users' data by any means other than the app itself.

What you log stays yours. spendx claims no ownership of your Expenses and uses them only to run the service: to store them, to compute your figures, and to show each one to exactly the people its Visibility allows.

Reports and moderation

If you see an Expense that breaks these rules, you can Report it. The Support page says how. Every Report goes to manual review by the operator; nothing is ever hidden or banned automatically, at any number of Reports.

A review ends in exactly one of three outcomes:

• dismiss: the Expense stays as it is;
• hide the Expense: it is removed from everyone's view except its author's;
• ban the author: the account that logged it can no longer sign in.

The operator decides what a rule means when applied to a particular Expense, and may hide an Expense or ban an account for a breach of these terms without a Report. Reviews are done by one person, in their own time. There is no promised turnaround for a Report and no formal appeal process; if you believe a decision about your own Expense or account was wrong, email support@spendxapp.com and it will be read, with no guarantee of an answer or a reversal.

Currency figures

When you log an Expense, spendx records its Conversion Snapshot: the amount expressed in every Supported Currency, so that your figures and sums can be shown in your Preferred Currency. These conversions are informational only. They are computed from a public daily exchange-rate dataset at the rate on record for the day the Expense was logged, then frozen; they are not live, may differ from the rate your bank or card applied, and are never recomputed. Nothing in spendx is financial, investment, tax, or accounting advice, and the operator is not responsible for any decision you make based on a figure shown in the app.

The service as it is

spendx is a free app run by one person and is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It may be unavailable, change, or lose data despite reasonable care, and it may stop being offered altogether; if that happens you will be told in the app with enough notice to save what you need. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from your use of spendx or from its unavailability.

Ending the relationship

Either side may end it at any time.

• You end it through Account Deletion, in the app or by email. It is immediate and irreversible, and it removes your account and everything in it.
• The operator ends it by a ban, for a breach of these terms. A banned account can no longer sign in. The operator may also refuse a new account to a person who has been banned.

Being banned does not stop you from asking for your data to be deleted; the Privacy Policy describes that right.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. A change that affects what you may do, what may happen to your account, or what spendx promises you is announced in the app before it takes effect; smaller corrections simply move the date. Using spendx after a change takes effect means you accept the changed terms. If you do not, delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Vietnam. Any dispute that cannot be settled by talking to us first is for the competent court in Vietnam. If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies.
